Minister of Health Receives Acting WHO Representative in the Kingdom of Bahrain

Her Excellency Dr. Jaleela bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, received Dr. Asad Hafeez, Acting Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Kingdom of Bahrain and Head of the Country Office.

During the meeting, Her Excellency emphasized the depth of the strategic partnership and close cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the World Health Organization, which has resulted in pioneering initiatives that have strengthened and enhanced the efficiency of the national healthcare system—particularly in the areas of epidemiological surveillance, health emergency preparedness, and the development of national competencies. She affirmed that this partnership serves as a cornerstone for exchanging expertise and adopting international best practices that support the achievement of sustainable health development goals.

The meeting also discussed a number of joint initiatives and projects, including the documentation of Bahrain’s successful health achievements, participation in the Bahrain International Public Health Conference, and the enhancement of training and emergency preparedness programs—reflecting both sides’ commitment to fostering greater integration between national and international health efforts.

For his part, Dr. Asad Hafeez expressed his appreciation to Her Excellency the Minister of Health and all ministry officials for their continued cooperation in implementing joint health plans and programs. He affirmed WHO’s keenness to further strengthen collaboration and partnership with the Kingdom of Bahrain across various health sectors.
