Indications: effective in the control of capillary oozing and venous bleeding; variety of surgical procedures. It should be packed loosely in any cavities to prevent expansion damaging surrounding tissues. Contra-indications: aural surgery where it might come into contact with fluid from the inner ear; opthalmic surgery where the vitreous or aqueous humour is exposed. |
